FTX Training Phase 07-26 - Air Assault & Fast Rope Operations

OPERATION — AIR ASSAULT & FAST ROPE FTX

Overview

this FTX is a training-and-execution package built around rotary-wing insertion. The first half is instructional; the second half is a fast-paced series of objectives where you'll apply it under time pressure. Expect to spend a lot of time in and around the airframe — loading, roping, shooting, and moving.

Block 1 — Infil/Exfil Refresher (Brief)

A short review of the fundamentals before we get in the air:

• Approaching the UH-60 from the safe sector (3 or 9 o'clock), avoiding the tail rotor arc and forward approach
• Chalk file formation, pilot clearance, and continuous flow to the door
• Chalk numbering as you board — odd numbers one side, even the other, so fast rope calls stay sequential
• Seating priority: door guns assigned by chalk lead, automatic weapons door-adjacent, remaining personnel center and forward
• Unloading and immediate 360 security — stay clear of the rotor arc until the bird is off the deck

Block 2 — F.R.I.E.S. on the UH-60M

The main instructional block. We're breaking the Fast Rope Insertion/Extraction System down step by step:

• Roles and authority — the pilot holds final say on the rope; the chalk lead owns everyone in the cabin
• Command sequence: "Get Ready" (30 seconds out) → "Deploy Ropes" → "GO (#), GO (#)" in pairs → "Last Man"
• Rope deployment mechanics — where to look for the interaction prompt, how to select your rope
• Spacing discipline — do not stack on the rope; wait until the man below you is a reasonable distance down
• Abort procedures: "ABORT, ABORT, ABORT" and "CUT ROPES, CUT ROPES, CUT ROPES"
• Actions on the ground — clear the rotor span immediately, get low, find cover, build 360 security. Moving off the rope fast isn't optional; standing under it gets the next man dropped six feet onto his head

Other airframes (CH-47F, and beyond) will be covered in later iterations. Tomorrow is UH-60 only.

Block 3 — SHS Fly By–Dry By

Introduction to the mod that allows firing from vehicle seats. We'll cover what it changes for us in the air: engaging from door-side seats, sectors of fire from a moving aircraft, muzzle awareness inside a full cabin, and fire discipline so we aren't putting rounds through our own airframe or our own people on the LZ.

Block 4 — Objective Series

Once instruction is complete, we transition into execution. A chain of objectives run back-to-back with minimal downtime — rapid insertion, quick actions on the objective, immediate consolidation, and exfil to the next target. The intent is tempo. Chalk leads will be expected to keep accountability, keep the Raven informed, and get their people on and off the bird without a mistakes.
